Federkennung

Recommended Posts

"Here is the Ohlins chart for the more common Rear shock springs. We do have a larger chart with ALL the Ohlins spring, but it is too large to load here.

Ohlins uses a series of Numbers on their springs.
This is what that look like and what they mean.

01093-29-90-L239

01093 tells us the length and Diameter of the spring
-29 is the code we use to order a spring, it is the same as the rate of the spring.

90 is the rate of the spring in Nmm so this spring is a 90 Nmm spring.

L is the manufacture of the spring, all Ohlins springs are made by "L"

239 is the date of manufacture in weeks and year, just like a tire date code.
This spring was made in the 23rd week of 2009

We use a spring tester that gives us a graph over any range we enter, usually we use 60 MM. While we have the less expensive Longacre tester as well, it is not as accurate and most people only use it up to 30 or 40 MM range and assume the spring will be the same all the way to coil bind, they are not.

I have included pictures of our tester.

Bigger view of Chart here: http://www.rogueracing.org/host/springchart.jpg

And for those who want to know more about why we test springs and what we are looking for. .
